VERITAS Volume Manager (VxVM) is the System V industry-standard, virtual-disk management solution that maximizes system availability, increasesdisk I/O performance, protects against data loss, and significantlyreduces the ongoing cost of disk and file system administration.VxVM maximizes system availability: moving the contents of one disk toanother (to maximize I/O performance or to salvage data from a failingdisk) can be done online, while applications run.VxVM improves performance and protects against data loss: VxVM supportsspanning, striping (RAID-0), and mirroring (RAID-1). Any of thesetechniques, in any combination, on any portion of disk, can be applied toexisting file systems or databases without interrupting users.
